Instantly take better photo

1. Use the mode!

Don't just set to auto, use portrait mode to take portrait, indoor mode to take indoor shot etc...
Although now some camera comes with auto mode selection, it is still a better idea to do it manually. If your camera does not have the auto mode function, then you should just select the appropriate mode to use.

2. Change the angle
Don't be lazy, every shot taken when you are standing upright will not be original and creative. Lower yourself down, or lift up your hands to get a high angle shot, it will certainly give you more creative shot.

3. Watch the sun
When taking outdoor shot, see if the sun is behind the subject. If so, your subject will be very dark. Get the sun to be at the side of infront of your subject. If you need to take the shot with the sun behind the subject, then force the flash light to illuminate your subject. It is alright to use flash in the day.

4. Use Macro for close up shot
Any shot less than 1 arm length away, you should turn on your macro function.

5. Use the best resolution
With such cheap and huge storage space on your SD/MMC/Memory card nowadays. Always go for the finest, highest and biggest setting of resolution. You can always decrease the size of your photo later, but you can not increase the clarity of your photo.

6. You can zoom when taking portrait
Instead of taking portrait normally, try standing further away and zoom in. It will give a different feel.
