Culture of eating at self-service food centre (restaurant)
When you are eating with your friends, colleague or family in Singapore, you always go and get a table first, find all the chairs. Leave someone there(or tissue paper), then go and order your food.
Notice that the Ang Mo doesn't do that? They just simply buy their food first and walk around to look for seats. (of course sometimes they may need to hold on to their tray and walk around many rounds before they could get any seats)
The later method actually freed out more seats, isn't it?
While you book your table, around 10min you are gone buying food. The table are just leave pretty much empty, then you spend around 30min eating slowly. Which means that 1/4 of the time, the table is not effectively being used.
If everyone would spare out that 10min, we could have no problem finding seats in the first place, thus don't need to book any table.
