ERP = Catch-22

I realized the whole ERP is a catch-22 situation. Very soon, there will just be ERP all over the whole island of Singapore.

By setting up gantry, it ease the traffic flow of one road. So motorist will just try to use another road, which will increase in traffic flow. Therefore a ERP gantry will be set up in that road and it go on.

We have all seen that ERP does not really ease traffic flow in many situation. But by telling LTA that ERP does not work, it will simply urge them to increase the price further. Which will definitely eventually lower traffic. Imagine driving to work, and having to spend more than $50 every day just on ERP charges. I am sure many will simply just stop driving.

So, really whatever you do, ERP are here to stay, whether if it is genuinely effective or appropriate.

Just like if you give death sentence to everyone who commit even the smallest crime, I am sure that the crime rate will go down tremendously, but it is debatable whether it is genuinely effective or appropriate.

Just watched "Bee Movie" DVD, and really like this quote-

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly.
Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway.
Because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
